It was an evening to remember for the Shroffs and the Adanis as the families got together to celebrate 100 years of legacy of Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co, one of the largest law firms in the country. Paridhi, daughter of Cyril Shroff and the daughter-in-law of Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group, played a perfect hostess at the warm and intimate family affair at The Belvedere, Shantigram, on Friday evening. Both families were seen mingling with their friends from the industry over some great hors d’oeuvres followed by a 40-minute classical dance performance by veteran danseuse Mallika Sarabhai and her troupe. The headturner, however, was a cherubic Anuradha, the eightmonth- old daughter of Paridhi and Karan Adani. Karan had taken on the daddy duties for the evening as Anuradha sat perched on his arms, keenly observing the goings-on.

‘Firm’ foundations
Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co (AMSS), established in 1917 by Amarchand Shroff, has its headquarters in Mumbai. The firm has 625 lawyers, with 18 in Ahmedabad, and 85 partners. In 2015, the firm was replaced by two firms — one headed by Cyril Shroff and the other by his brother Shardul Shroff. Paridhi manages the operations of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas in Ahmedabad.

The Shroff siblings
Paridhi and Rishabh are fourthgeneration lawyers with the former beginning her work at the Ahmedabad office soon after marriage. Talking of the firm’s success, Rishabh — who was accompanied by wife Saloni — told Mirror, “The firm here in Ahmedabad is doing quite well. Paridhi and I are involved in its operations, and we have been getting very good response from the city.” The firm has educational campuses and real estate firms among its clients, and also provides corporate advisories. It has nation’s leading businessmen on its advisory board including Infosys co-founder N R Narayan Murthy . The centenary celebrations are taking place in key markets London, Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad. Paridhi said, “We invited friends who have been close to our family for decades, and also some new friends we have made. We wanted to share our joy with them.”

The friends
While Karan and Paridhi were busy attending to guests, Gautam Adani was seen in the company of Pankaj Patel, Chairman and MD of Cadila Healthcare, and Pradeep Chona, Chairman and MD of Havmor. Other guests included Sanjay Lalbhai, CMD of Arvind Limited, who walked in with wife Jayshree, an art connoisseur, and doctor-couple Vikram and Darshini Shah of Shalby Hospitals.

Waiting for her little shishya
Vandana Shroff was heard telling Mallika Sarabhai how daughter Paridhi would love to learn classical dance. Mallika responded: “I have set eyes on li’l Anuradha. I will take her into Darpana as soon as she is old enough.”

Pillar of strength
A doting pa-in-law Gautam Adani was seen by Paridhi’s side, engrossed in a conversation with her through most part of the evening. The event began with Cyril Shroff’s speech on the 100-year-old law firm. Shroff also spoke about Adani Foundation, and thanked daughter Paridhi for her support.

Dad dearest
Cute as a button, Anuradha was a pleasure to watch as she posed for our camera, perched on her father’s arms. Karan Adani, Executive Director at Adani Port and SEZ, showed what an amazing hands-on daddy he is.

Introducing… Anuradha Adani
The cynosure of all eyes, eight-month-old Anuradha Adani, looked angelic in a lilac frock. Seen here with mum Paridhi and grandma Vandana, she seemed quite comfortable with the guests around.
