Huzefa is a technology lawyer with nearly 20 years of experience at the intersection of law, business, and innovation. He has represented multinationals in emerging areas of technology and guided several global digital companies on their India entry strategy.  He has deep expertise in areas such as Gen AI, Intermdiaries, SpaceTech, Drones, Web3.0, Geospatial Technologies, GCCs, E-commerce, Robotics etc.

With deep industry insight and a forward-looking approach, he has also successfully led multiple cross-border M&A transactions in the tech space, bringing a global perspective to deal making.

  • Anticipating and advising clients on new age regulatory risks in the field of Cognitive AI, SpaceTech, Autonomous cars, Drones, Digital Twins, Cyborgs, Digital M2M, Geospatial Technologies, IOT etc.
  • Acted as product counsel for several big techs in identifying legal, tax and regulatory risks for new age digital products.
  • Evaluating strategies on governance and liability for intermediaries basis their role in the digital ecosystem (cloud, VPN, market place, social platforms, e-commerce).
  • Understanding IP nuances on matters and ring fencing ownership and liability on commercial exploitation.
  • Complex fintech advisory on tokenization, data residency, digital lending and implementing innovative models for cross border payments.
  • Assisting on setting up captives / GCCs and undertaking end to end advisory (contracts, immoveable property leases, funding, HR, inter-company arrangements etc)
  • Advised global clients in sectors such as healthcare, insurance, TMT, space, financial services on sectoral data laws, privacy, data audits / GAP assessments,s transfer impact assessments for cross-border data transfer and related risk mitigation.
  • Advised international clients on cyber security and related breach notification / reporting compliances.
  • Involved and advised on several cutting edge, complex and cross-border commercial and technology contracts.
  • Official representative of the UAV task force committee of the Indian Government in formulating Drone regulations for India.

  • Strategically evaluated and implemented asset sale, business transfers, stock sale, court mergers etc.
  • Advisory on talent transfers and acquisition along with ironing issues from an employment law perspective (especially roll over statutory benefits).
  • Advised several Silicon Valley and global companies on their Indian strategy along with risks / issues arising from acquisition of Indian technology
  • Advised on new age tax risks arising from Indian digital businesses and related expansions.
