With nearly two decades of experience advising global funds, sovereign wealth vehicles, and A-list technology clients on strategic M&A, Rohan brings an analytically grounded, commercially savvy, solution-oriented approach to complex deal environments: structuring, negotiating, and closing transactions where legal precision and business judgment are often inseparable.

Following an academic break, he joined Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas in October 2024 with a practice focus on cross-border private equity, M&A, and India market entry for international funds.

• Bain Capital – on evaluating strategic acquisitions across India’s consumer durables and home appliances sector.
• Kuku FM – lead counsel to Granite Asia (formerly GGV Capital) and Vertex Growth Fund as co-lead investors in the Series C/D financing of Kuku, India’s leading mobile-first vernacular content platform, with the deal valuing Kuku at approx. US$ 500 million.
• Greater Pacific Capital – on acquiring a controlling stake in a smart-meter manufacturer (including complex debt restructuring), a technically demanding transaction in the high-growth infrastructure sector.
• Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel’s USD 3 Billion multi-jurisdictional acquisition of a suite of captive ports, power plants, and ancillary steel manufacturing assets from the Essar Group (including Russia-sanctions analysis and solutions).
• Ant Financial Group’s USD 2.2 Billion strategic M&A, investments into, and exits from, India’s leading consumer internet companies in mobile payments and online food ordering, and their subsequent IPOs.
• Alibaba Group’s USD 1.5 Billion investments in, and strategic partnerships with, leading Indian companies.
• The Blackstone Group in investing USD 1.2 Billion in the energy and private wealth sectors, and fund structuring.
• General Investment Corporation (Singapore’s SWF) in USD 1 Billion of investments into Indian tech unicorns.
• Softbank Vision Fund’s investment in e-insurance and online financial services in India.
• Uber Eats / Zomato – Merger & IPO: Shareholders’ counsel on Uber Eats’ merger of its Indian food delivery operations into Zomato, and subsequently Zomato’s landmark 2021 IPO.
• TikTok India – Market Entry & Operations: Led the establishment and early expansion of TikTok’s India operations, including market entry structuring, regulatory compliance, and governance
• Remitly, Lazada Group, AliCloud, AliExpress, DingTalk, AGTech and online payment and gaming companies, on joint ventures, India product entry and exit strategies, regulatory analysis, and setting up of operations.
