He has been at the helm of and steered several large and significant M&A transactions pursued by the Tata Group in the last 17 years, including many successful cross-border deals.

He has also negotiated many successful joint venture transactions with various multinational conglomerates situated in different legal jurisdictions on behalf of the Tata Group. He has served on the Boards of several listed and unlisted companies of the Tata Group.

Mr. Vasani was Legal Advisor to the Tata Group Chairman, having also in his earlier role been Chief Legal & Group General Counsel of Tata Sons Ltd., the holding company of Tata Group. His areas of specialization include corporate and commercial laws, M&A, joint ventures, and securities law.  

As a Corporate Partner at CAM, Mr. Vasani routinely advises on complex commercial transactions involving nuanced legal issues on various aspects such as the related party transactions regime in India, new CSR regime, schemes of arrangement, and has also extensively advised on aspects relating to inbound and outbound investments and securities law. He has advised leading companies such as HDFC Ltd, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Larsen & Toubro Limited, and leading companies the Tata Group and the Adani group, on complex aspects of corporate laws and SEBI regulations.

Mr. Vasani is highly regarded in Government and industry circles for his proactive approach on public policy issues. He is a keen public speaker and was selected to speak on India’s Competition Act at the reputed Chatham House, London. He is a prolific writer and routinely shares his views on various contemporary aspects related to corporate governance, and other corporate law issues on different public fora.

Professional Experience

  • Strategic advisory to various clients on queries related to employment, contracts, litigation arising due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  • Advising various media & entertainment companies on legal issues.
  • Adani Green Energy in relation to its joint venture agreement with Total S.A. for solar projects across India.
  • Orbimed Asia III Mauritius and Orbimed Asia III Mauritius FVCI acquired 9.9% stake in Advanced Enzyme Technologies.
