Mihir Rale

Mihir has over 23 years of experience spanning mergers & acquisitions, legal strategy, corporate governance, regulation & policy and compliance matters in technology, data, telecommunications and traditional sectors.

He last served as the General Counsel for Star and Disney India and completed 15 years with the company in 2024.

He has been at the forefront of navigating industry issues at the intersection of competition, intellectual property, technology and regulation. He has served as the Co-chair of the FICCI IPR Committee, Co-chair of the CII Digital Media Committee and been an integral part of the FICCI M&E Committee as well as the CII National Regulatory Committee.

Star India, in securing anti-trust approvals for inorganic activities including the recent Star India and Viacom18 merger as well as clearances for behavioural investigations in the past
Structured an increase in the economic interest of News Corp / 21st Century Fox stake in Tata Sky (now Tata Play), when at Star India.
Star India, in relation to setting up a landscape defining joint venture between Zee Entertainment, Turner International, Den Networks and Star India.
News Corp / 21st Century Fox acquisition of the ESPN stake in the Singapore based ESPN Star Sports joint venture, when at Star India.
Star India, in relation to the Company undertaking the high-stakes acquisition of sports media rights such as IPL, BCCI and ICC under his supervision.
Launch of Disney+Hotstar during his time at Star India.
