Rashmi heads the Employment Practice of the Firm and is recognized as an expert in the field of employment laws. She advises various international and domestic corporations on employment issues that arise in the day-to-day functioning of a business in India and also handles large transactions involving acquisitions of businesses with a large employee base, retrenchment, downsizing of labour force and closures, union strategy etc. Clients appreciate that she is “deeply involved in the process” and highlight her understanding of the client’s business as a strength.

Rashmi has also conducted many high profile and sensitive investigations for companies, advised on termination of employment including of senior management employees for various disciplinary reasons including corporate governance breaches. Rashmi is an expert on advising companies on how to deal with sexual harassment at the workplace and has spoken at events organised by trade bodies on the laws relating to sexual harassment.

Rashmi’s ability to marry her in-depth knowledge of employment laws with the nuanced social issues in the Indian labour market enables her to successfully deliver practical and implementable advice. Her clients cover a broad range of sectors including IT, manufacturing, banking and financial services.

Rashmi is also an integral part of the Firm’s COVID Advisory Practice that was constituted to address the nuances of employment and related matters that arose as a result of the pandemic. She is also advising many clients on the impending transition to the new Labour Codes.

In the past year Rashmi has been sought out to conduct webinars and industry wide sessions on key employment topics and has spoken in various forums such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Indian General Counsel Association (IGCA) and the International Market Assessment’s CHRO Forum (IMA) and has written many articles and been quoted by various publications as an expert in her field.
